About Fair Work Legal

Practical experience, careful attention and help in your own language

Your situation is assessed by our team, which focuses on employment-law questions from employees in the Netherlands.

The owner has worked for a temporary employment agency for many years and understands the practical side of agency work from the inside. This experience helps us recognise how contracts, working hours, salary payments, sickness, the end of employment and communication with an agency or employer come together. There is also practical knowledge of UWV procedures, including matters involving sickness at the end of employment and unemployment benefits.

Our team also includes an experienced Ukrainian staff member. She can discuss a matter in Ukrainian, Russian or Polish, help clarify the facts and support communication throughout the assessment. This makes it easier to explain important details accurately and to understand the next steps.

We begin by listening carefully and reviewing the information available. You then receive a clear explanation of what may be possible, which documents matter and what a sensible next step could be. We do not make unrealistic promises and explain the approach and possible costs before further work begins.

Your rights in the Netherlands

Work should be fair — including the way you are paid and treated

Dutch employment law can protect employees even when a contract is unclear, the employer is abroad or the work was arranged through an agency.

Ask about your situation

Pay and working hours

Salary on time, payment for recorded hours, correct deductions and holiday allowance.

When employment ends

Final salary, unused leave, notice rules and possible compensation.

During illness

Continued pay, reintegration support and legal protection from improper dismissal.

A clear process

From first message to a practical plan

The first review is free and without obligation. We explain what is realistic before you decide what to do.

  1. 1

    Tell us what happened

Send a short message by WhatsApp or email in the language you prefer.

  2. 2

    Share your documents

A contract, payslip, time record or employer message can help us assess the situation.

  3. 3

    Receive clear next steps

We explain your options, the likely route and any costs before further work starts.

Not sure whether you have a case? That is exactly what the first review is for. Where legally possible, we also discuss whether part of the costs may be recovered from the employer.

Experience from practice

Three situations in which we have helped employees

Experience gained by our team in previous work. Every matter depends on its own facts and documents.

01

Natalia

Salary backpay and transition payment

After reviewing Natalia’s payslips, recorded hours and final settlement, it became clear that not everything had been paid correctly. We helped calculate the outstanding salary and possible transition payment.

02

Nanka

Sick when employment ends

Nanka’s employer refused to pay her final salary while she was ill and would not report that she was leaving employment while sick. We ultimately recovered the outstanding salary and transition payment to which she was entitled and arranged her sickness benefit with UWV.

03

Roman

Outstanding salary and WW application

After employment ended, Roman had outstanding salary and questions about WW. We helped determine what was still owed and supported him with the information and documents for an unemployment-benefit application.

Frequently asked questions

Useful to know before you contact us

Is the first review really free?

Yes. The initial assessment is free and without obligation. If further work is appropriate, the approach and any costs are explained first.

What documents should I send?

Send whatever you have: your contract, payslips, time records, dismissal letter and relevant messages. We will tell you if anything else is needed.

Can you help if I no longer work there?

Often, yes. Missing final salary, holiday allowance, unused leave or possible compensation can still be worth checking.

Do I need to speak Dutch?

No. You can contact us in English, Dutch, Russian, Ukrainian or Polish.

Can costs be recovered from my employer?

In many matters we can assess whether reasonable costs may be recovered in full or in part from the employer. This depends on the legal basis, the steps taken and the outcome, so it cannot be guaranteed in advance.
